Gampaha-district
Gampaha District is een van de 25 districten van Sri Lanka, de administratieve indeling op het tweede niveau van het land. Het is het op een na meest bevolkte district van Sri Lanka na Colombo District. Het district wordt beheerd door een districtsecretariaat, onder leiding van een districtsecretaris die door de centrale regering van Sri Lanka is aangesteld. De hoofdstad van het district is de stad Gampaha. Negombo is echter de grootste stad en het commerciële centrum van Gampaha district. Het district werd in september 1978 afgesplitst van het noordelijke deel van Colombo District.
Gampaha District ligt in het westen van Sri Lanka en heeft een oppervlakte van 1.387 vierkante kilometer (536 vierkante mijl). Het wordt in het noorden begrensd door de districten Kurunegala en Puttalam, in het oosten door Kegalle District, in het zuiden door Colombo District en in het westen door de Indische Oceaan. De grenzen van het district zijn de Ma Oya in het noorden, de Kelani River in het zuiden en de 1.000 voet contourlijn in het oosten.
Gampaha District is verdeeld in 13 Divisional Secretary's Divisions (DS Divisions), die elk worden geleid door een Divisional Secretary. De DS Divisions zijn verder onderverdeeld in 1.177 Grama Niladhari Divisions (GN Divisions).
De bevolking van Gampaha District was 2.294.641 in 2012. De meerderheid van de bevolking is Singalezen, met een minderheid van Sri Lankaanse Mooren en Sri Lankaanse Tamils.
