Zentralprovinz
Zentralprovinz liegt in den zentralen Hügeln von Sri Lanka und umfasst drei Verwaltungsbezirke: Kandy, Matale und Nuwara Eliya. Die Landfläche der Provinz beträgt 5.575 km², was 8,6 % der gesamten Landfläche von Sri Lanka ausmacht. Die Provinz liegt zwischen 6,6°–7,7° nördlicher Breite und 80,5°–80,9° östlicher Länge. Die Höhenlage in der Provinz reicht von 600 Fuß bis über 6.000 Fuß über dem Meeresspiegel. Die Provinz grenzt im Norden an die Nord-Zentralprovinz, im Osten an den Fluss Mahaweli, im Süden an die Uma Oya und die Gebirgsketten von Adams Peak, Kirigalpotta und Thotapala sowie im Westen an die Gebirgsketten Dolosbage und Galagedera.
Kandy ist die zweitgrößte Stadt in Sri Lanka und die Hauptstadt der Zentralprovinz sowie des Distrikts Kandy. Diese historische Stadt liegt auf einer Höhe von 465 Metern (1.526 Fuß) über dem Meeresspiegel. Kandy war die letzte Hauptstadt des alten Königreichs in Sri Lanka und ist eine der heiligsten Städte des Landes, aufgrund des Tempels der Heiligen Zahnreliquie. Sie gehört auch zu den schönsten Städten der Insel. Umgeben von üppigen Bergen tragen der See und der angrenzende Tempel der Heiligen Zahnreliquie zur Schönheit der Stadt bei.
An der Nordseite des Sees, der von einem Brüstung aus weißem Stein aus dem frühen 19. Jahrhundert umgeben ist, befinden sich die offiziellen religiösen Monumente der Stadt, darunter der Zahntempel, bekannt als Dalada Maligawa, und der Königspalast. Der Dalada Maligawa, der im 18. Jahrhundert wiederaufgebaut wurde, steht auf einem Granitsockel und ist inspiriert von den Tempeln der früheren Hauptstadt Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. Verschiedene Materialien tragen zur Pracht dieses Tempels bei. In dieser kleinen heiligen Stadt finden sich mehrere buddhistische Klöster. Kandy liegt im gebirgigen und dicht bewaldeten Inneren der Insel und ist von mehreren Gebirgsketten, darunter die Knuckles- und Hantana-Gebirge, umgeben, wodurch die Stadt eine Höhe von 500 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel erreicht. Sie liegt neben dem künstlichen Kandy-See und südlich des Udawattakele-Schutzgebiets.
Nuwara Eliya, was „Stadt des Lichts“ bedeutet, ist eine Stadt in den zentralen Hochländern von Sri Lanka mit einer malerischen Landschaft und einem gemäßigten Klima. Nuwara Eliya, die Hauptstadt des Distrikts Nuwara Eliya, liegt auf einer Höhe von 1.868 m (6.128 Fuß) und gilt als der wichtigste Ort für die Teeproduktion in Sri Lanka. Die Stadt liegt mit Blick auf den Piduruthalagala, den höchsten Berg in Sri Lanka. Aufgrund der hohen Lage hat Nuwara Eliya ein deutlich kühleres Klima als die Tiefländer, mit einer durchschnittlichen Jahrestemperatur von 16 °C. Die Temperatur kann jedoch manchmal auf 3 °C sinken. In Dezember, Januar und Februar ist es nachts recht kalt, und es kann sogar Frost geben, aber es wird schnell wärmer, wenn die tropische Sonne aufgeht.

Uva ProvinceThe Uva Province consists of two districts: Badulla and Moneragala while the capital of the province is Badulla. Uva is bordered by the Eastern, Southern and Central provinces.

Sabaragamuwa ProvinceSabaragamuwa is yet another province of Sri Lanka, located in the south-central region of the island and is comprised of two administrative districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle.

North Western ProvinceNorth Western Province is comprised of two administrative districts viz. Kurunegala and Puttalam. The provincial capital is Kurunegala that has a population of 28,571. The province is well known for its coconut plantations.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.
