Carissa carandas - A small tree. Spines usually simple, 1 – 3 cm long. Leaves short –petioled , the blade 3 – 7 cm long and 1.5 – 4 cm wide, obovate, elliptic or oblong , mostly widest above the middle, slightly longer than wide to three times as long as wide; cuneate at the base, obtuse at the apex. Peduncle 1.5 – 2.5 cm long. Pedicels about as long as the calyx or slightly longer. Flowers scentless. Fruit almost 2 cm long, reddish purple.
