Memecylon capitellatum
Memecylon capitellatum is a species of plant in the family Melastomataceae. It is endemic to Sri Lanka. It is known as "weli kaha - වැලි කහ" by local Sinhalese people.
Weli kaha is a large shrub or small tree, up to about 5 m tall; branches subterete. Leaves are 2.5-10 x 1.5-5 cm; petiole 5 mm long, generally drying yellowish-green. Inflorescences condensed to 3-15 flowered heads, 4-15 mm diameter; peduncles 2-25 mm long. Petals blue. Fruit globose, initially yellowish-green; mature fruit bluish-black, about 9 mm diameter.
Uses the plant for medical uses for Ulcers, Swellings, Sores and etc.
