Distrito de Gampaha
Distrito de Gampaha es uno de los 25 distritos de Sri Lanka, la división administrativa de segundo nivel del país. Es el segundo distrito más poblado de Sri Lanka después del Distrito de Colombo. El distrito es administrado por una Secretaría Distrital dirigida por un Secretario de Distrito nombrado por el gobierno central de Sri Lanka. La capital del distrito es la ciudad de Gampaha. Sin embargo, Negombo es la ciudad más grande y el centro comercial del distrito de Gampaha. El distrito fue creado a partir de la parte norte del Distrito de Colombo en septiembre de 1978.
El Distrito de Gampaha está ubicado en el oeste de Sri Lanka y tiene un área de 1,387 kilómetros cuadrados (536 millas cuadradas). Limita al norte con los distritos de Kurunegala y Puttalam, al este con el Distrito de Kegalle, al sur con el Distrito de Colombo y al oeste con el Océano Índico. Las fronteras del distrito son el río Ma Oya al norte, el río Kelani al sur y la línea de contorno de 1,000 pies al este.
El Distrito de Gampaha se divide en 13 divisiones secretariales (Divisiones DS), cada una dirigida por un Secretario de División. Las Divisiones DS se subdividen en 1,177 divisiones Grama Niladhari (Divisiones GN).
La población del Distrito de Gampaha era de 2,294,641 en 2012. La mayoría de la población son cingaleses, con una minoría de mores de Sri Lanka y tamiles de Sri Lanka.
