Distrito de Kegalle
Kegalle es un distrito de la Provincia de Sabaragamuwa en Sri Lanka. Es uno de los 25 distritos de Sri Lanka y constituye el segundo nivel de división administrativa del país. El distrito es administrado por una Secretaría Distrital dirigida por un Secretario Distrital (anteriormente conocido como Agente del Gobierno), designado por el gobierno central de Sri Lanka. Anteriormente fue un Dissavani de Sri Lanka.
Cubre una superficie de 1.693 km². Según el censo de 2012, el distrito tiene una población de 837.179 habitantes, lo que representa aproximadamente el 4,0 % de la población total de Sri Lanka.
El distrito de Kegalle está situado entre las tierras altas centrales y las llanuras occidentales del sur, y posee un entorno natural encantador. La altura de la región occidental es de aproximadamente 50 m (160 pies) sobre el nivel del mar, mientras que la región oriental supera los 1.800 m (5.900 pies). El cultivo del caucho se extiende por la mayor parte del distrito, y entre los cultivos menores de exportación se incluyen el café, el cacao, la pimienta, el clavo de olor y la nuez moscada. La mejor mina de grafito de Sri Lanka se encuentra en Bogala, en el distrito de Kegalle. La extensión total del distrito es de 1.692,8 km² (653,6 millas cuadradas).
