Trichosanthes cucumerina - Annual, dioecious or rarely monoecious, slender, stems glabrous or occasionally slightly hairy. Leaves subcircular or usually reniform in outline, deeply cordate; lamina 4.5-12 x 5-14.5 cm, shallowly to deeply 5-7-palmately lobed; petiole pubescent beneath. Flowers white. Fruit 4.5-7.5 x 1.5-2.5 cm, pale green when young, with white to cream longitudinal strips, ripening bright red; pericarp thin. Seeds up to 1 cm long.
