Tithonia diversifolia - Herbaceous or suffruticose perennials, 2-3 m tall or taller; stems striate, sparsely pubescent. Leaves 3 (-5) lobed; petioles 2-10 cm long, broadly winged, biauriculate; laminae 5-15 x 2.5-10 cm, hispidulous above. Phyllaries 3-4 seriate, 1-2 cm long, 2.5-5.5 mm broad; ray flowers about 12, 4.5-6 cm long, basal tubes 1-2 mm long. Achenes dark brown, 5-6 mm long. Pappus of 2 awns 4-5 mm long.
