Gmelina arborea var.arborea - Medium size to large tree, to 20 m tall; bark smooth with scurfy flakes. Leaves deciduous, decussate-opposite; petiole 5-15 cm long; leaf blade 10-25 cm long, 7.5-18 cm wide, ovate-cordate; inflorescences fulvous-tomentose, 1-3 flowered in cymes, 7.5-39 cm long; corolla large, yellow or orange to reddish, pinkish or whitish. Fruit a succulent drupe. Endocarp 2-celled and 1-3 seeded.
