Buchanania axillaris - Medium-sized tree. Twigs glabrous. Leaves rather thin, coriaceous; stalk 12 – 20 cm long; blade 10 – 15 cm long, oblong or lanceolate – oblong; apex acute or obtuse and retuse; base rounded or slightly decurrent in to the stalk. Panicles shorter than the leaves. Flowers nearly sessile, about 5 mm in diameter. Sepals orbicular, glabrous. Petals oblong – oval. Ovary pilose; style short. Drupe black, pyriform – ovoid, about 1 cm in diameter.
