Barringtonia racemosa - A small tree but capable of reaching 20m or more. Leaves tufted at the ends of stouts twigs, 15x4 cm, obovate oval, tapering to base. Racemes long, pendulous, mostly terminal, 25–30 cm, pedicels 10-15 mm. Calyx tube rupturing into 2-5 unequal lobes, petals 4, pink to red in colour, stamens in 5 or 6 whorls of which the innermost one is staminodal. Ovary 2-4 celled. Fruit ovoid, 5-8X2-4 cm.
