Avicennia officinalis - Shrub or tree, often much branched near the base, to 25 m tall. Leaf petiole 0.5-2 cm long; leaves 4-12 cm long, 2-6 cm wide; apex rounded. Infloescence paniculate, 3-15 cm long, 2-12 decussate flowers; flowers solitary. Corolla comparatively large, yellow or yellowish-brown, soon becoming orange coloured. Fruit greenish-purple.
