Asystasia variabilis - Erect or straggling herb. Stems acutely quadrangular, puberulous. Petioles to 1.6 cm. Leaves variable, linear-elliptic to 9 x 1.2 cm, acute at base. Racemes simple, 7-13 cm long. Corolla pale pinkish-violet, tube 0.9-1.2 cm long, faintly purple within throat, dotted red; tube to 1.2 cm long, bent at base. Capsule narrowly clavate, 2.2-2.5 x 0.4-0.5 cm, densely pilose, seeds 3-5 x 0.5-3 mm.
