Naaran Kavum
If you're not in the mood for Konda Kavum, Naaran Kavum is an easy, delicious alternative. New Year season. Naaran Kavum is a sweet dish made mainly from coconut, sugar and rice flour. It is very similar in appearance and taste to our sukiyas. We usually use jaggery as a sweetener in sukhiyan, but in Sri Lanka, sugar is used to sweeten.
Serving: 10 oranges
Step 1: Desiccated Coconut
Ingredients
- Coconut - 150g
- Jaggery - 200g
- Cardamom - a few
- Cinnamon - a few
- Cloves - a few
- Water - 50ml
- Lime - 2 slices
Method
- Add water to a deep vessel on the stove
- Add jaggery
- Add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon
- Wait until jaggery melts before adding coconut
- Add lime
- Cook for a few minutes until thick
Ingredients
- Flour - 150 grams
- Water - 100 milliliters
- yellow-powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - a pinch
- sugar - a pinch
Method
- In a bowl, add the flour, turmeric powder
- Add salt
- Add sugar
- Add sugar
- Add water little by little and mix until it becomes a smooth batter
Step 3: Frying
- Heat the oil in a deep pan
