Location

The Beach Hut is located along the sunny unspoilt beaches of Arugam Bay in Sri Lanka's East Coast while the distance from Colombo to the East Coast is approximately 320km. A popular surfing and tourist destination, Arugam Bay hosts annual surf competitions. Public transportation options are available on a daily basis while there are buses that leave to Pottuvil which is the commercial hub closest to Arugam Bay.

Accommodation

Starting off its operations in 1989, the Beach Hut initially had only two cabanas to offer its guests. After it became popular among the visitors, extension plans were made and now it proudly boasts of 7 cabanas and 6 standard rooms. All accommodation units are simple and very clean while the entire abode represents the natural beauty of the east coast. All guestrooms are airy and well maintained.

Facilities

The service offered at the Beach Hut in Arugam Bay is homely while you can always enjoy the view of the surf and the beach from the sand floored restaurant. You can enjoy delicious food straight from the catch of the day. A few Eastern and Western dishes are offered to guests but the best dishes would be the fish, king crabs, jumbo prawns, cuttlefish and lobster dishes depending on the daily catch. It's the perfect blend for the beach vacation. You can enjoy many beach activities while at the Beach Hut while the owner is always helpful.

There are many tourist attractions which are easy to reach when staying over at the Beach Hut in Arugam Bay. It is located between two of Sri Lanka's popular National Parks, the Kumana Bird Sanctuary and the Lahugala National Park. There are number of heritage sites that are famous among the locals that are closer to the Beach hut and a comfortable drive away. Surfing is the main past time and the reason why many tourists gather to Arugam Bay.
