Toyota Aqua
Toyota Aqua ist ein vollhybrider elektrischer Subkompakt-/Supermini-Hatchback (B-Segment), der von Toyota seit 2011 produziert und vermarktet wird. Der Name ist ausschließlich für den japanischen Binnenmarkt bestimmt, da das Fahrzeug in den Auslandsmärkten als Prius c exportiert wurde, wobei die Popularität des Hybridauto-Namens Prius genutzt wurde und als kleinere Alternative zum Prius Liftback vermarktet wurde.
Die Aqua wird als die erfolgreichste Markeneinführung in Japan der letzten 20 Jahre angesehen. Ab Januar 2017 ist die Aqua/Prius c das zweitmeistverkaufte Toyota-Hybridmodell nach dem regulären Prius, mit weltweit 1.380.100 verkauften Einheiten. Japan als Marktführer für Aqua hat bis Januar 2017 1.154.500 Einheiten dieses Modells verkauft. Die Aqua war in Japan von 2013 bis 2015 drei Jahre in Folge das meistverkaufte (nicht-kei) Auto.
Der Name Aqua bedeutet "Wasser" auf Latein. Der Name sollte das Auto mit einem "Bild der klaren Transparenz" und "etwas, das weltweit geschätzt wird", in Verbindung bringen.
