Toyota Alphard
Der Toyota Alphard (Japanisch: ???·??????, Hepburn: Toyota Arufado) ist ein Minivan, der seit 2002 vom japanischen Automobilhersteller Toyota produziert wird. Er ist als Sieben- oder Acht-Sitzer mit Benzin- und Hybridmotoren erhältlich. Hybridvarianten sind seit 2003 verfügbar und beinhalten Toyotas Hybrid Synergy Drive-Technologie. Es ist Toyotas Flaggschiff-MPV.
Der Alphard wurde hauptsächlich für den japanischen Markt entwickelt, ist jedoch auch in vielen asiatischen Ländern, Weißrussland, Russland und dem Nahen Osten erhältlich. Ähnlich wie der Camry wird er auf den Märkten in Südostasien oft als Luxusfahrzeug betrachtet.
Seit der zweiten Generation ist auch ein Zwillingsmodell namens Toyota Vellfire (Japanisch: ???·???????, Hepburn: Toyota Verufaia) erhältlich, das als sportlichere Alternative zum Alphard vermarktet wird und bis 2020 exklusiv über das Netz-Store-Händlernetz verkauft wurde. Seit 2019 wird eine modifizierte und luxuriösere Version dieses Modells als Lexus LM verkauft.
Das Fahrzeug wurde nach Alphard benannt, dem hellsten Stern im Sternbild Hydra. Der Alphard trägt ein spezielles Front-Emblem, das den kleinen griechischen Buchstaben Alpha darstellt. Ein markantes Designelement des Alphard ist der schildähnliche Kühlergrill, den er seit der Einführung der AH30-Generation im Jahr 2015 hat.
Der Name „Vellfire“ wurde von „Velvet“ und „Fire“ abgeleitet, um „sanft“ und „leidenschaftlich“ als Eigenschaften des Fahrzeugs hervorzuheben. Ab der AH30-Generation erhielt der Vellfire ein aggressives Styling, um die sportlichere Version des Alphard widerzuspiegeln. Ab der AH40-Generation erhielt der Vellfire sein eigenes einzigartiges Emblem in Form eines stilisierten „V“, um ihn weiter von seinem Zwilling zu unterscheiden.
