Mercedes „E“-Klasse
Die Mercedes-Benz E-Klasse ist eine Reihe von Executive-Fahrzeugen, die vom deutschen Automobilhersteller Mercedes-Benz in verschiedenen Motor- und Karosserie-Konfigurationen produziert werden. Sie wird seit 1953 hergestellt und fällt in der Mercedes-Modellreihe in die Mittelklasse. Die E-Klasse wird weltweit über fünf Generationen hinweg vermarktet.
Vor 1993 war das E im Mercedes-Benz-Nomenklatur ein Suffix, das der Modellnummer eines Fahrzeugs folgte und für Einspritzmotor (deutsch für Brennstoffinjektionsmotor) stand. Es begann in den frühen 1960er Jahren zu erscheinen, als dieses Merkmal in der Produktlinie des Herstellers weit verbreitet verwendet wurde und nicht nur in den oberen Luxus- und Sportmodellen. Mit der Einführung des überarbeiteten W124 im Jahr 1993 war die Kraftstoffeinspritzung in Mercedes-Motoren allgegenwärtig, und das E wurde als Präfix (z. B. E 220) übernommen, und die Modellreihe wurde offiziell als E-Klasse bezeichnet. Alle Generationen der E-Klasse bieten entweder Hinterradantrieb oder Mercedes' 4Matic-Allradantriebssystem.
