Centralprovinsen
Centralprovinsen er beliggende i de centrale bjerge i Sri Lanka og består af tre administrative distrikter: Kandy, Matale og Nuwara Eliya. Provinsens landareal er 5.575 km², hvilket udgør 8,6 % af det samlede landareal i Sri Lanka. Provinsen ligger mellem 6,6°–7,7° nordlig bredde og 80,5°–80,9° østlig længde. Højden i provinsen varierer fra 600 fod til over 6.000 fod over havets overflade. Provinsen grænser mod nord op til Nordcentrale Provins, mod øst til Mahaweli-floden, mod syd til Uma Oya og bjergkæderne ved Adam’s Peak, Kirigalpotta og Thotapala samt mod vest til bjergkæderne Dolosbage og Galagedera.
Kandy er den næststørste by i Sri Lanka og hovedbyen i Centralprovinsen samt i Kandy-distriktet. Denne gamle by ligger i en højde af 465 meter (1.526 fod) over havets overflade. Kandy er den sidste hovedstad i det gamle kongerige i Sri Lanka og er en af de mest hellige byer i landet på grund af Templet for den Hellige Tandrelikvie. Den er også en af de smukkeste byer på øen. Omgivet af frodige bjerge bidrager søen og det tilstødende Tempel for den Hellige Tandrelikvie til byens skønhed.
På den nordlige bred af søen, som er omgivet af en brystning af hvid sten fra begyndelsen af det 19. århundrede, ligger byens officielle religiøse monumenter, herunder Tandtemplet, kendt som Dalada Maligawa, samt Det Kongelige Palads. Dalada Maligawa, som blev genopført i det 18. århundrede, er bygget på en granitbase og er inspireret af templerne i Sri Lankas tidligere hovedstad, Anuradhapura. Forskellige materialer bidrager til templets rigdom. Rundt omkring i denne lille hellige by findes flere buddhistiske klostre. Kandy ligger i den bjergrige og tæt skovklædte del af øens indre og er omgivet af flere bjergkæder, herunder Knuckles- og Hantana-bjergkæderne, hvilket giver byen en højde på omkring 500 meter over havets overflade. Den ligger op ad den kunstige Kandy-sø og syd for Udawattakele-reservatet.
Nuwara Eliya, som betyder “lysets by”, er en by i de centrale højlande i Sri Lanka med et naturskønt landskab og et tempereret klima. Nuwara Eliya, hovedbyen i Nuwara Eliya-distriktet, ligger i en højde af 1.868 m (6.128 fod) og betragtes som det vigtigste område for teproduktion i Sri Lanka. Byen ligger med udsigt over Piduruthalagala, det højeste bjerg i Sri Lanka. På grund af den høje beliggenhed har Nuwara Eliya et langt køligere klima end lavlandet med en gennemsnitlig årlig temperatur på 16 °C. Temperaturen kan dog undertiden falde helt ned til 3 °C. I december, januar og februar er det ofte ret koldt om natten, og der kan endda forekomme frost, men det bliver hurtigt varmere, når den tropiske sol står op.

Central ProvinceThe Central Province is located in the central hills of Sri Lanka comprising of three administrative districts: Kandy, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya. The land area of the province is 5,575 km2 which is 8.6% of the total land area of Sri Lanka.

Southern ProvinceThe Southern Province of Sri Lanka is a small geographic area consisting of three districts: Galle, Matara and Hambantota. Farming and fishing are the main sources of income for the vast majority of the people in this region.

Uva ProvinceThe Uva Province consists of two districts: Badulla and Moneragala while the capital of the province is Badulla. Uva is bordered by the Eastern, Southern and Central provinces.

Sabaragamuwa ProvinceSabaragamuwa is yet another province of Sri Lanka, located in the south-central region of the island and is comprised of two administrative districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle.

North Western ProvinceNorth Western Province is comprised of two administrative districts viz. Kurunegala and Puttalam. The provincial capital is Kurunegala that has a population of 28,571. The province is well known for its coconut plantations.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.

Eastern ProvinceAnother province of Sri Lanka mostly known for its golden beaches and the natural harbour, the Eastern Province which is 9,996 km2 in extent consists of three administrative districts namely Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.
