Okres Ratnapura
Ratnapura je okres v provincii Sabaragamuwa na Srí Lance. Je jedním z 25 okresů Srí Lanky a představuje druhou úroveň správního členění země. Okres je spravován okresním sekretariátem v čele s okresním tajemníkem (dříve známým jako Government Agent), kterého jmenuje ústřední vláda Srí Lanky.
Rozkládá se na ploše 3 275 km² a podle sčítání lidu z roku 2012 má 1 082 277 obyvatel. Město se nachází v jihozápadní části Srí Lanky, v takzvané vlhké zóně. Srážky zde přicházejí především s jihozápadním monzunem od května do září. Během zbývajících měsíců roku se vyskytují také významné srážky způsobené konvekčními dešti. Průměrný roční úhrn srážek činí přibližně 4 000 až 5 000 mm. Průměrná teplota se pohybuje mezi 24 a 35 °C a vlhkost vzduchu je vysoká. Město leží v nadmořské výšce 21 m (69 stop).
Ratnapura se nachází na řece Kalu Ganga (Černá řeka) v jiho-centrální části Srí Lanky, přibližně 101 km (63 mil) jihovýchodně od hlavního města země, Colomba. Název Ratnapura se také zapisuje jako Rathnapura. Jméno „Ratnapura“ pochází ze sanskrtu a znamená „město drahokamů“, od slov pura (město) a ratna (drahokam). Mnoho významných obchodníků s drahokamy na Srí Lance působí právě z tohoto města. Kromě těžby drahokamů je město známé také produkcí rýže a ovoce. Město obklopují rozsáhlé plantáže čaje a kaučuku; čaj pěstovaný v této oblasti je známý jako nížinný čaj. Z Ratnapury vede také trasa na Sri Padu. Mezi oblíbené výlety patří lesní rezervace Sinharaja a národní park Udawalawe. Okolní oblast je oblíbeným cílem pro trekking a ideálním místem pro pozorování ptáků.
