Mitsubishi Pajero
O Mitsubishi Pajero é um SUV (veículo utilitário esportivo) de tamanho grande fabricado e comercializado globalmente pela Mitsubishi ao longo de quatro gerações — foi introduzido em 1981 e descontinuado em 2021.
O nome Pajero vem de Leopardus pajeros, o gato das pampas. A Mitsubishi comercializou o SUV como Montero na América do Norte, Espanha e América Latina (exceto Brasil e Jamaica) devido ao fato de que o termo "pajero" tem um significado pejorativo (significa "idiota") em espanhol. No Reino Unido, era conhecido como Shogun (??), nome derivado da palavra japonesa para "general". O modelo foi descontinuado na América do Norte em 2006.
Os nomes Pajero, Montero e Shogun também foram usados em outros modelos, mecanicamente não relacionados, como o Pajero Mini kei car, o Pajero Junior e o Pajero iO/Pinin mini SUVs, e SUVs de tamanho médio baseados no Triton/Pajero/Montero/Shogun Sport. O Pajero é um dos quatro modelos da Mitsubishi (os outros são o Triton, Pajero Sport e o Pajero iO) que compartilham o sistema de tração nas quatro rodas Super-Select da Mitsubishi, ao invés de seu sistema de tração integral leve Mitsubishi S-AWC.
O Pajero gerou mais de 3,3 milhões de vendas ao longo de seus 40 anos de história. O nome sobrevive com o Pajero Sport menor, que é baseado na picape Mitsubishi Triton/L200/Strada. Apesar da semelhança no nome, o Pajero Sport não compartilha nenhuma das fundações do Pajero original e é menor em tamanho geral.
