November is a transitional month as the south-west monsoon blows out and the northeast monsoon continues. Rain and storms can be experienced across Sri Lanka with higher rainfall in the north and east coast and at the Cultural Triangle, although touring is still an option. Weather conditions improve in the south and west as the month goes on, and by the end of the month the southern and western beaches will experience plenty of sunshine.

The month is famous as the first month of the peak season for Sri Lanka's South Coast as well as the North Coast. In both coasts, you can enjoy plenty of sea-based activities such as watersports, sailing as well as whale-watching.

November is the first month of the peak season for hot air ballooning in Sri Lanka. The activity is only available in Kandalama near Sigiriya and the views on offer are spectacular.

The month is also the first month of the peak season to visit the Wasgamuwa and Bundala National Parks, famous for their elephants and birds respectively.
