Nypa fruticans - Stem mostly subterranean, 45 cm diameter, with curved leaf scars evident above and roots borne along the lower side. Leaves 4- 7 , pinnate, 4-10 m long erect, arching at the tip; sheath splitting early; petiole 1.2- 1.5 m long, stout. Staminate flowers 4- 6 mm long. Fruit 15- 20 cm diameter, comprised of many closely packed 2- 4 angled segments. Seed single, kidney- shaped, 4.5 cm diameter, grooved.
