Toyota Land Cruiser
De Toyota Land Cruiser (Japans: Hepburn: Toyota Rando-Kuruza) (soms ook wel geschreven als LandCruiser) is een serie van vierwielaangedreven voertuigen geproduceerd door de Japanse autofabrikant Toyota. Het is de langstlopende modellenserie van Toyota. Vanaf 2019 zijn er wereldwijd meer dan 10 miljoen eenheden van de Land Cruiser verkocht.
De productie van de eerste generatie van de Land Cruiser begon in 1951. De Land Cruiser is geproduceerd in uitvoeringen als cabriolet, hardtop, stationwagen en cabinechassis. De betrouwbaarheid en de lange levensduur van de Land Cruiser hebben geleid tot grote populariteit, vooral in Australië, waar het het best verkochte voertuig is met een frame en vierwielaandrijving. Toyota test de Land Cruiser ook uitgebreid in de Australische outback, die wordt beschouwd als een van de moeilijkste operationele omgevingen wat betreft temperatuur en terrein. In Japan was de Land Cruiser ooit exclusief voor Japanse Toyota-dealers die Toyota Store werden genoemd.
Sinds 1990 wordt de kleinere variant van de Land Cruiser verkocht als de Land Cruiser Prado. Het wordt door Toyota omschreven als een 'lichte' versie van de Land Cruiser, met een ander ontwerp dan het volledig formaat model en tot 2023 blijft het de enige comfortgerichte Land Cruiser die beschikbaar is in een korte wielbasis versie met drie deuren.
Vanaf 2023 was de volledige Land Cruiser beschikbaar op vele markten. Uitzonderingen zijn de Verenigde Staten (sinds 2021), Canada (sinds 1996), Maleisië (waar in plaats daarvan de Lexus LX wordt geleverd), Hong Kong, Macao, Zuid-Korea, Brazilië en het grootste deel van Europa. In Europa zijn de enige landen waar de volledige Land Cruiser officieel wordt verkocht Gibraltar, Moldavië, Rusland, Wit-Rusland en Oekraïne. De Land Cruiser is enorm populair in het Midden-Oosten, Rusland en Australië, en ook in Afrika waar hij wordt gebruikt door boeren, de bouwindustrie, niet-gouvernementele en humanitaire organisaties, de Verenigde Naties, nationale legers (vaak de pick-up versie), en ongereguleerde gewapende groepen die ze ombouwen tot 'technische voertuigen' door machinegeweren achterop te monteren. In augustus 2019 had de cumulatieve wereldwijde verkoop van de Land Cruiser-familie 10 miljoen eenheden overschreden.
