Toyota Alphard
De Toyota Alphard (Japans: ???·??????, Hepburn: Toyota Arufado) is een minibus geproduceerd door de Japanse autofabrikant Toyota sinds 2002. Het is beschikbaar als een zeven- of achtzitter met benzine- en hybride motoropties. Hybride versies zijn beschikbaar sinds 2003, en bevatten de Hybrid Synergy Drive-technologie van Toyota. Het is de vlaggenschip minibus van Toyota.
De Alphard is voornamelijk gemaakt voor de Japanse markt, maar wordt ook verkocht in veel Aziatische landen, Wit-Rusland, Rusland en het Midden-Oosten. Net als de Camry wordt het vaak beschouwd als een luxeauto op de markten in Zuidoost-Azië.
Sinds de tweede generatie is er ook een tweelingmodel genaamd de Toyota Vellfire (Japans: ???·???????, Hepburn: Toyota Verufaia), dat wordt gepromoot als een sportievere alternatieve versie van de Alphard en tot 2020 exclusief werd verkocht via het Netz Store-dealer netwerk. Sinds 2019 wordt een gemodificeerde en meer premium versie van dit model verkocht als de Lexus LM.
Het voertuig is vernoemd naar Alphard, de helderste ster in het sterrenbeeld Hydra. De Alphard heeft een speciaal frontembleem dat de kleine Griekse letter alfa weergeeft. Een opvallend designelement van de Alphard is de schildvormige grille, die sinds de lancering van de AH30-generatie in 2015 aanwezig is.
De naam "Vellfire" is afgeleid van "velvet" en "fire" om de "zachtheid" en "passie" als kenmerken van het voertuig te benadrukken. Vanaf de AH30-generatie kreeg de Vellfire een agressief ontwerp om de sportievere versie van de Alphard te weerspiegelen. Vanaf de AH40-generatie kreeg de Vellfire een uniek embleem in de vorm van een gestileerde 'V', om het verder te onderscheiden van zijn tweeling.
