Wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri)
The Wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri) is a highly prized, fast-swimming predatory fish found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world, particularly in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Known for its sleek, elongated body and impressive speed, the Wahoo is one of the fastest fish in the ocean, capable of reaching speeds up to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h). This makes it a challenging catch for sport fishermen.
Wahoos have a distinct appearance, with a long, torpedo-shaped body, sharp teeth, and a bluish-silver coloration with vertical dark stripes running down their sides. They can grow up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) long and weigh as much as 180 pounds (82 kg), although most individuals are smaller. Wahoos are carnivorous, feeding on smaller fish, squid, and crustaceans.
