مقاطعة ترينكومالي

تاريخ ترينكومالي المسجل يمتد لأكثر من ألفين وخمسمائة عام، بدءًا من الاستيطان المدني المرتبط بـ معبد كونسوارام في العصور ما قبل الحديثة. واحدة من أقدم المدن في آسيا، كانت تُستخدم كميناء بحري رئيسي في تاريخ التجارة الدولية للجزيرة مع جنوب شرق آسيا. من قريتها الضاحية كانكوفالي، ساعدت بعض أبحاث الطب الأولى في آسيا في "أغاثيار ثابانام"، وهي جامعة الطب التاميلية التي أسسها أاغاستيا، في نشر ثقافة تامبرابارنيان التاميلية عبر القارة. في العصور القديمة، كانت المدينة عاصمة للممالك الشرقية في بلد فاني، وتطورت تحت حكم مملكة أنورادابورا، وسلالة بالافا، وسلالة تشولا، وسلالة بانديان، وحكام فانيماي، ومملكة جاڤنا من خلال إيرادات معبد كونسوارام.
