අම්පාර නැගෙනහිර පළාතට අයත් වේ. ශ්රී ලංකාවේ එය ශ්රී ලංකාවේ නැගෙනහිර වෙරළ තීරයේ පිහිටා ඇති දුරස්ථ නගරයක් වන අතර එය අගනුවර වන කොළඹ සිට කිලෝමීටර 239 ක් පමණ දුරින් පිහිටා ඇත. අම්පාර යනු රටේ විශාලතම වී අස්වැන්න නෙළන පළාත වන අතර, ධීවර සම්පතක් ලෙස ශ්රී ලංකාවේ නැගෙනහිර වෙරළ තීරයේ ඉන්දියන් සාගරය පිහිටා ඇත. බොහෝ සිවිල් වැසියන් සිංහල වන අතර, දෙමළ සහ මුවර්ස් ද දිස්ත්රික්කයේ වෙරළබඩ ප්රදේශවල ජීවත් වෙති.

නැගෙනහිර පළාත ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පළාත් 9 න් එකකි. පළාත් 19 වන සියවස් පටන් පැවතුනත්, 1987 දී ශ්රී ලංකාවේ 13 වන ආණ්ඩුක්රම ව්යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය මගින් පළාත් සභා පිහිටුවන තෙක් ඒවාට කිසිදු නීතිමය තත්වයක් නොතිබුණි. 1988 සහ 2006 අතර කාලය තුළ පළාත තාවකාලිකව උතුරු පළාත සමඟ ඒකාබද්ධ කර ඊසානදිග පළාත පිහිටුවන ලදී. පළාතේ අගනුවර ත්රිකුණාමලය වේ. 2007 දී නැගෙනහිර පළාතේ ජනගහනය 1,460,939 ක් විය. ජනවාර්ගික හා ආගමික වශයෙන් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ වඩාත්ම විවිධත්වය ඇති පළාත එයයි.

නැගෙනහිර පළාත වර්ග කිලෝමීටර් 9,996 (වර්ග සැතපුම් 3,859.5) ක භූමි ප්රමාණයකින් යුක්ත වේ. පළාත උතුරින් උතුරු පළාතෙන්, නැගෙනහිරින් බෙංගාල බොක්කෙන්, දකුණින් දකුණු පළාතෙන් සහ බටහිරින් ඌව, මධ්යම සහ උතුරු මැද පළාත්වලින් වට වී ඇත. පළාතේ වෙරළ තීරය කලපු වලින් ආධිපත්යය දරන අතර, විශාලතම ඒවා වන්නේ මඩකලපුව කලපුව, කොක්කිලායි කලපුව, උපාර් කලපුව සහ උල්ලකාලි කලපුවයි.

About Ampara District

Ampara is belongs to the Eastern Province. of Sri Lanka It is a remote city on the East Coast of Sri Lanka, about 360 km from the capital city of Colombo.Ampara is the largest paddy harvesting province in the country, and has the Indian Ocean on the east coast of Sri Lanka as a fisheries resource. Most of the civilians are Sinhala, while Tamils and Moors also live in the coastal parts of the district.

About Eastern Province

The Eastern Province is one of the 9 provinces of Sri Lanka. The provinces have existed since the 19th century but they didn't have any legal status until 1987 when the 13th Amendment to the 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka established provincial councils. Between 1988 and 2006 the province was temporarily merged with the Northern Provincee to form the North-East Province. The capital of the province is Trincomalee. The Eastern province's population was 1,460,939 in 2007. The province is the most diverse in Sri Lanka, both ethnically and religiously.

Eastern province has an area of 9,996 square kilometers (3,859.5 sq mi).The province is surrounded by the Northern Province to the north, the Bay of Bengal to the east, the Southern Province to the south, and the Uva, Central and North Central provinces to the west. The province's coast is dominated by lagoons, the largest being Batticaloa lagoon, Kokkilai lagoon, Upaar Lagoon and Ullackalie Lagoon.
