Ampara ringkond
Ampara ringkond on üks 25 Sri Lanka ringkonnast, mis on riigi teise astme haldusüksused. Ringkonda haldab ringkonna sekretariaat, mida juhib ringkonna sekretär (varem tuntud kui valitsuse esindaja), kelle määrab Sri Lanka kesgovt. Ringkonna pealinn on Ampara linn. Ringkond moodustati 1961. aasta aprillis, kui see eraldati lõunaosast Batticaloa ringkonnast.
Ampara ringkond asub Sri Lanka kaguosas Ida-provintsis. Selle pindala on 4415 ruutkilomeetrit (1705 ruutmiili). Piirneb Batticaloa ja Polonnaruwa ringkondadega põhjas, India ookeaniga idas, Hambantota ringkonnaga lõunas, Badulla ja Matale ringkondadega loodes ja Monaragala ringkonnaga läänes ja kagus.
Ampara ringkonna loodepoolne ninatipp (Dehiyattakandiya D.S. jaotuses) on eraldatud ülejäänud ringkonnast ja Ida-provintsist Maduru Oya veepuhastusseente poolt.
Ampara ringkonna elanikkond oli 2012. aastal 648 057. Ringkond on üks kõige mitmekesisemaid Sri Lankal nii etniliselt kui ka usuliselt.
Ringkonna elanikkond, nagu ka ülejäänud idapoolne ja põhjaosa, kannatas kodusõja tõttu. Sõda tappis hinnanguliselt 100 000 inimest. Sadu tuhandeid sinhalese kolisid riigi lääneossa. Paljud Sri Lanka tamili rahvuse esindajad kolisid ka pealinna Colombo suhtelisse turvalisusesse. Sõda põhjustas ka paljusid inimesi, kes kuulusid igasugustesse etnilistesse ja usulistesse rühmadesse, kes elasid ringkonnas, põgenema teistele aladele Sri Lankas, kuigi enamik neist on sõja lõppedes ringkonda tagasi pöördunud.
