Mercedes Clase “E”
La Mercedes-Benz Clase E es una gama de coches ejecutivos fabricados por el fabricante alemán Mercedes-Benz en diversas configuraciones de motor y carrocería. Producida desde 1953, la Clase E se encuentra en el rango medio de la línea de Mercedes y se ha comercializado a nivel mundial en cinco generaciones.
Antes de 1993, la letra E en la nomenclatura de Mercedes-Benz era un sufijo que seguía al número del modelo de un vehículo y significaba Einspritzmotor (en alemán, motor de inyección de combustible). Comenzó a aparecer a principios de la década de 1960, cuando esta característica comenzó a utilizarse de manera generalizada en la línea de productos del fabricante, y no solo en sus modelos de lujo y deportivos de gama alta. Con el lanzamiento del W124 renovado en 1993, la inyección de combustible se volvió omnipresente en los motores de Mercedes, y la E se adoptó como prefijo (es decir, E 220) y la línea de modelos se conoció oficialmente como la Clase E (o E-Klasse). Todas las generaciones de la Clase E han ofrecido ya sea tracción trasera o el sistema de tracción total 4Matic de Mercedes.
