Sabaragamuwa-provinsen
Sabaragamuwa er endnu en provins i Sri Lanka, beliggende i den syd-centrale del af øen og består af to administrative distrikter: Ratnapura og Kegalle. Sabaragamuwa er opkaldt efter sine tidligere indfødte indbyggere, nemlig Sabara, et indisk udtryk for jæger-samler stammer, et udtryk der sjældent blev brugt i det gamle Sri Lanka. Provinsen er kendt for sin ædelstensindustri, især Ratnapura distriktet. Ud over ædelstensindustrien er provinsen kendt for ris- og frugt dyrkning samt gummiplantager. I provinsen findes også turistattraktioner som Sinharaja Forest Reserve, Udawalawa National Park, Kitulgala og Adams Peak osv.
Hovedstaden i provinsen er Ratnapura, navnet betyder "ædelstensbyen", en by mest kendt for den længe etablerede ædelstensindustri i Sri Lanka. Størstedelen af byens befolkning er afhængig af ædelstenshandlen. Ædelstensminer er almindelige i området omkring byen. De fleste store ædelstensforretningsfolk opererer fra Ratnapura. Der er også et betydeligt antal udenlandske ædelstenshandlere, der opererer i byen. Risdyrkning står i øjeblikket over for en usikker fremtid i Ratnapura, da mange landmænd opgiver risdyrkning og skifter til ædelstensminedrift, hvilket er en mere produktiv måde at tjene penge på. Mange lækre frugter som mango og papaya samt grøntsager dyrkes som markedsprodukter.
Ratnapura ligger på motorvej A4, som forbinder hovedstaden Colombo med Kalmunai i Eastern Province. En anden motorvej, A8, forbinder byen med Panadura på vestkysten af Sri Lanka. Ratnapura har et tropisk regnskovsklima klima. Byen ligger i den sydvestlige del af Sri Lanka, i den såkaldte vådområdezone. Byen modtager hovedsageligt nedbør fra sydvestlige monsuner fra maj til september og bliver ofte oversvømmet.
Sabaragamuwa-provinsen
Der er mange steder til tilbedelse i og omkring byen. Nogle af dem er bjerget Sri Pada (Adams Peak), Maha Saman Devale, Delgamu Viharaya, Pothgul Viharaya, Diva Guhava, Siva-templet, Jumma-moskeen, samt kirkene Saints Peter and Paul og St. Luke’s.
Naturskønne skabelser inkluderer vandfald såsom Bopath Ella beliggende ved Kuruwita, Katugas Ella, et populært vandfald beliggende i Mahawalawatta, 3 km fra Ratnapura; Kirindi Ella, det syvende højeste vandfald i Sri Lanka, beliggende 4 km fra Ratnapura-Pelmadulla hovedvej; Rajanawa, beliggende ved siden af Ratnapura-Kalawana hovedvej i landsbyen Marapana.

Uva ProvinceThe Uva Province consists of two districts: Badulla and Moneragala while the capital of the province is Badulla. Uva is bordered by the Eastern, Southern and Central provinces.

Sabaragamuwa ProvinceSabaragamuwa is yet another province of Sri Lanka, located in the south-central region of the island and is comprised of two administrative districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle.

North Western ProvinceNorth Western Province is comprised of two administrative districts viz. Kurunegala and Puttalam. The provincial capital is Kurunegala that has a population of 28,571. The province is well known for its coconut plantations.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.

Eastern ProvinceAnother province of Sri Lanka mostly known for its golden beaches and the natural harbour, the Eastern Province which is 9,996 km2 in extent consists of three administrative districts namely Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.
