马纳尔区

儒艮是一种中型海洋哺乳动物,分布在曼纳尔湾、纳奇库达、加夫纳岛及亚当桥附近。由于过度捕猎和意外落入渔网,IUCN保护状况为易危。
一种被严重威胁的狼蛛 Poecilotheria hanumavilasumica 首次在斯里兰卡曼纳尔地区被发现,这是该蜘蛛首次在印度以外的地区被记录。万卡莱鸟类保护区被国际认可为湿地鸟类的重要区域,根据《拉姆萨尔公约》,位于曼纳尔岛以南的大陆地区。
