There are many opportunities for fishing in our tropical island, while freshwater fishing is mainly carried out in rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Some of the best locations for freshwater fishing include the Bolgoda Lake, Habarana Lake, Tissa Lake and Parakrama Samudraya while common species include freshwater Eels, Carps, Barramundi, Catfish, Loaches, Gouramis, etc. We will be sure to set up your expedition with a local fisherman who is experienced in freshwater fishing while traditional fishing equipment will be provided.
We make sure that everyone is always mindful of the environment while we encourage the catch and release practice whenever possible to conserve the freshwater fish population. The best time to engage in freshwater fishing is during the dry season which usually is from December to April. The water levels become relatively stable during this season which makes it easier to spot and catch fish.Special Note

Fishing Licences can be obtained from the Department of Wildlife Conservation and from authorized agents when the necessity arises.
