Província de Sabaragamuwa
Sabaragamuwa é mais uma província do Sri Lanka, localizada na região centro-sul da ilha e é composta por dois distritos administrativos: Ratnapura e Kegalle. Sabaragamuwa recebe o nome de seus antigos habitantes indígenas, chamados Sabara, um termo índico para tribos de caçadores-coletores, termo raramente usado no antigo Sri Lanka. A província é bem conhecida por sua indústria de gemas, particularmente o distrito de Ratnapura. Além da indústria de gemas, a província é conhecida pelo cultivo de arroz e frutas cultivos e plantações de borracha. Na província também há atrações turísticas, como a Reserva Florestal de Sinharaja, o Parque Nacional Udawalawa, Kitulgala e o Pico de Adam, entre outros.
A capital da província é Ratnapura, o nome significa “cidade das gemas”, uma cidade mais conhecida pela indústria de gemas estabelecida há muito tempo no Sri Lanka. A maioria das pessoas da cidade depende do comércio de gemas. As minas de gemas são comuns na área circundante. A maioria dos grandes empresários de gemas opera a partir de Ratnapura. Também há um número considerável de comerciantes de gemas estrangeiros atuando na cidade. O cultivo de arroz enfrenta atualmente um futuro incerto em Ratnapura, pois muitos agricultores estão abandonando o cultivo de arroz e passando para a mineração de gemas, que é uma maneira mais produtiva de ganhar dinheiro. Muitas frutas deliciosas, como manga e mamão, assim como vegetais, são cultivados como produtos de mercado.
Ratnapura está localizada na Rodovia A4, que conecta a capital Colombo a Kalmunai, na Província Oriental. Outra rodovia, a A8, conecta a cidade a Panadura, na costa oeste do Sri Lanka. Ratnapura apresenta um clima de floresta tropical. A cidade está localizada na parte sudoeste do Sri Lanka, a chamada zona úmida. A cidade recebe chuva principalmente dos monções do sudoeste, de maio a setembro, e frequentemente é inundada.
Província de Sabaragamuwa
Há muitos locais de culto dentro e ao redor da cidade. Alguns deles são a montanha Sri Pada (Pico de Adam), Maha Saman Devale, Delgamu Viharaya, Pothgul Viharaya, Diva Guhava, o Templo de Shiva, a Mesquita Jumma, e as igrejas de São Pedro e São Paulo e de São Lucas.
As criações cênicas da natureza são as cachoeiras, como Bopath Ella, situada em Kuruwita, Katugas Ella, uma cachoeira popular situada em Mahawalawatta, a 3 km de Ratnapura; Kirindi Ella, a sétima cachoeira mais alta do Sri Lanka, situada a 4 km da estrada principal Ratnapura-Pelmadulla; Rajanawa, situada ao lado da estrada principal Ratnapura-Kalawana, na vila de Marapana.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.

Eastern ProvinceAnother province of Sri Lanka mostly known for its golden beaches and the natural harbour, the Eastern Province which is 9,996 km2 in extent consists of three administrative districts namely Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.
