Not too far beyond our closest township, architectural masterpieces in the form of Lunuganga Estate – the country home of renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, and Brief Gardens – the home and studio of his brother, Bevis Bawa, sit snug in the coastal backlands where they are peacefully hidden from the buzz of the beachfront. Finally, the Beruwala Lighthouse found upon an island off our neighbouring town of the same name, also serves as a fascinating adventure upon the blue waters of our island’s south coast.
