Experience:

Your tour begins at the Galle Town Center where you will 1500 hrs where you will meet up with your tuk tuk (three wheeler) and its driver who will be your guide. Each Tuk Tuk holds two people and the vehicle affords a wide view of the area around you.

The ride will take you through the countryside with its beautiful fields and colorful people, until you come to a quaint little village. You will drive through the village and its surrounding areas, giving you an overview of how its people live. Your tuk tuk will drop you off at this point, and you can get refreshed while you stop for a few minutes.

You'll then be whisked off on a bus ride to the nearest Buddhist Temple. There you'll meet a monk who will explain the basic tenements of Buddhism and lead you on a spiritual journey into meditation. You will learn techniques of self control and concentration. You will then be guided into a short meditation session where you calm your mind and senses.

After this you will be visiting some of the local industries such as cinnamon processing, paper and toddy making. You will be able to learn more about spices, how cinnamon bark is peeled and their qualities. In the paper industry you will see first hand, the process of creating paper from wood pulp.

Meanwhile, the toddy making industry provides a more interesting experience. Toddy is a form of alcohol created from coconut palms or palmyra trees. You will learn more about how toddy is made, and the various stages of processing. You will also be able to do a toddy tasting with various qualities of toddy, just like a wine tasting. If you are non alcoholic, you can choose to simply have some king coconut water at this point.

Once you are done with viewing these traditional local businesses, you will return to the village. You will be able to walk around the place and enjoy seeing the lifestyle and customs of the people living in it. Finally you will visit a villager's home and be treated to traditional Sri Lankan sweets and pure Ceylon tea.
