Montagne de Rumassala
Rumassala est une belle montagne située à 3 km à l'est de la ville de Galle, dans la province du Sud du Sri Lanka, directement liée à la Yatra de Ramayana au Sri Lanka. Selon la route de Ramayana au Sri Lanka, il est supposé que cette formation géographique inhabituelle est tombée lorsque Hanuman a transporté la montagne Dronagiri lors de son vol de retour vers Lanka pour y utiliser les herbes médicinales Sanjeevani. Ces herbes étaient nécessaires pour sauver Lakshmana et Rama, qui étaient gravement blessés lors de leur guerre. Par conséquent, Rumassala est l'un des cinq monts Sanjivani au Sri Lanka et un site important pour le tour de Ramayana du Sri Lanka.
Légende
Selon l'épopée sanskrite célèbre Ramayana, lorsque l'épouse du prince Rama, Sita, fut kidnappée par le roi démon Ravana, Rama, accompagné de son frère cadet et du demi-dieu singe Hanuman, la suivirent jusqu'au Sri Lanka. Pendant la violente bataille pour la sauver, le frère de Rama, Lakshmana, fut gravement blessé, et Hanuman fut envoyé chercher les herbes médicinales nécessaires pour le guérir. Il est dit que le demi-dieu, dans sa confusion pour trouver le bon remède, brisa un morceau de la montagne sacrée. La montagne se brisa en cinq morceaux séparés, et l'un d'eux serait tombé là où se trouve aujourd'hui la montagne Rumassala. Lorsqu'il transportait la montagne, certaines parties sont supposées être tombées à cinq endroits au Sri Lanka: Rumassala à Galle, Dolu Kanda à Hiripitiya, Ritigala sur la route Habarana-Anuradhapura, Thalladi à Mannar et Kachchativu au nord.
Aujourd'hui, la majestueuse montagne se dresse comme un témoignage des événements fascinants mentionnés dans l'épopée. Avec des histoires étranges de voyageurs se perdant dans la montagne, Rumassala est aussi un havre pour les herbes. Les chercheurs ont trouvé près de 150 espèces d'herbes uniques qui, étrangement, ne poussent nulle part ailleurs.
