Sri Lanka boasts diverse mountains and peaks, each with its own allure. Montagnes et sommets de Sri Lanka. Dans les régions centrale et sud de Sri Lanka, plusieurs montagnes et sommets ont une grande importance écologique et une riche biodiversité. Ces montagnes sont préservées sous forme de forêts et sont à l'origine de nombreuses rivières. Le Sri Pada est le sommet sacré de Sri Lanka, où les pèlerins viennent vénérer l'empreinte du pied du Bouddha.
La région des Hautes Terres (Hill Country) est exceptionnellement belle, avec des chutes d'eau cristallines et des plantations de thé dispersées à travers le paysage. La température dans cette région reste fraîche toute l'année, dans une atmosphère de printemps matinal. Tout est vert et luxuriant, et le paysage s'élève avec des collines herbeuses et des chutes d'eau accidentées, tandis que des forêts montagneuses denses s'accrochent aux pentes supérieures. Les journées passent lentement dans cette région, avec peu d'autres choses à faire que de boire du thé (en abondance) et de profiter du calme, des promenades et des vues à couper le souffle.
Il y a plusieurs petites villes qui valent vraiment la peine d'être visitées, comme Nuwara Eliya. Il y a aussi quelques merveilles de la nature majestueuses à explorer, notamment World’s End et le Pic d'Adam.
World’s End est situé dans le Parc national de Horton Plains, qui est un terrain vallonné de prairies parsemées de forêts et de végétation rare en altitude. Les plaines atteignent plus de 2000 mètres de hauteur, avec les montagnes Kirigalpotta et Thotupola Kanda qui s'élèvent depuis les bords du plateau. Cependant, la caractéristique la plus impressionnante de ce monde étrange et silencieux des plaines est le World’s End, où les plaines s'arrêtent brusquement, vous laissant suspendu au-dessus d'une chute verticale de 880 mètres.

Thotupola KandaTotapolakanda is the third highest mountain in Sri Lanka situated in Nuwara Eliya district 2,357 m above mean sea level. The mountain is located within the Horton Plains National Park. A trail to the top of the mountain, about two kilometres long, starts a few metres away from the Pattipola entrance to the Horton Plains National Park.
