Provincia de Sabaragamuwa
Sabaragamuwa es otra provincia de Sri Lanka, ubicada en la región centro-sur de la isla y está compuesta por dos distritos administrativos: Ratnapura y Kegalle. Sabaragamuwa recibe su nombre de sus antiguos habitantes indígenas, llamados Sabara, un término índico para las tribus de cazadores y recolectores, un término que rara vez se utilizaba en el antiguo Sri Lanka. La provincia es bien conocida por su industria de piedras preciosas, particularmente el distrito de Ratnapura. Además de la industria de gemas, la provincia es conocida por el cultivo de arroz y frutas y plantaciones de caucho. En la provincia también hay atracciones turísticas como la Reserva Forestal de Sinharaja, el Parque Nacional Udawalawa, Kitulgala y Adam’s Peak, entre otros.
La capital de la provincia es Ratnapura, cuyo nombre significa "ciudad de las gemas", una ciudad conocida principalmente por la industria de gemas establecida desde hace mucho tiempo en Sri Lanka. La mayoría de los habitantes de la ciudad dependen del comercio de gemas. Los pozos de gemas son un sitio común en la zona circundante. La mayoría de los empresarios de gemas a gran escala operan desde Ratnapura. También hay un número considerable de comerciantes de gemas extranjeros que operan en la ciudad. Actualmente, el cultivo de arroz enfrenta un futuro incierto en Ratnapura, ya que muchos agricultores abandonan el cultivo de arroz y se dedican a la minería de gemas, que es una forma más productiva de ganar dinero. La ciudad se encuentra en la parte suroeste de Sri Lanka, en la llamada zona húmeda. La ciudad recibe lluvias principalmente de los monzones del suroeste desde mayo hasta septiembre y a menudo se inunda.
Provincia de Sabaragamuwa

Sabaragamuwa ProvinceSabaragamuwa is yet another province of Sri Lanka, located in the south-central region of the island and is comprised of two administrative districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.

Eastern ProvinceAnother province of Sri Lanka mostly known for its golden beaches and the natural harbour, the Eastern Province which is 9,996 km2 in extent consists of three administrative districts namely Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.
