Rumassala-Berg
Rumassala ist ein schöner Berg, der 3 km östlich von Galle im Südlichen Bezirk von Sri Lanka liegt und direkt mit der Ramayana Yatra in Sri Lanka verbunden ist. Laut der Ramayana Trail Tour in Sri Lanka wird angenommen, dass dieses ungewöhnliche geografische Merkmal gefallen ist, als Hanuman den Dronagiri-Berg auf seinem Flug zurück nach Lanka trug, um dort die lebensrettenden Sanjeevani-Kräuter zu verwenden. Diese Kräuter wurden benötigt, um Lakshmana und Rama zu retten, die im Krieg schwer verletzt wurden. Daher ist Rumassala einer der fünf Sanjivani Berge in Sri Lanka und ein wichtiger Ort für Sri Lankas Ramayana-Tour.
Legende
Laut dem berühmten Sanskrit-Epos Ramayana, als die Frau des Prinzen Rama, Sita, vom Dämonenkönig Ravana entführt wurde, folgten Rama, zusammen mit seinem jüngeren Bruder und dem Affengott Hanuman, ihr bis nach Sri Lanka. Während des heftigen Kampfes um ihre Rettung wurde Ramas Bruder Lakshmana schwer verletzt, und Hanuman wurde gesandt, um die notwendigen Heilkräuter zu finden. Es wird gesagt, dass der Halbgott in seiner Verwirrung, das richtige Heilmittel zu finden, ein Stück des heiligen Berges abbrach. Der Berg zerbrach in fünf separate Stücke, und eines von ihnen soll dort gefallen sein, wo sich heute der Rumassala-Berg befindet. Während er den Berg trug, soll ein Teil von ihm an fünf Stellen in Sri Lanka gefallen sein: Rumassala in Galle, Dolu Kanda in Hiripitiya, Ritigala auf der Habarana-Anuradhapura Straße, Thalladi in Mannar und Kachchativu im Norden.
Heute steht der majestätische Berg als Zeugnis der faszinierenden Ereignisse, die im Epos erwähnt werden. Mit seltsamen Geschichten von Reisenden, die sich im Berg verirren, ist Rumassala auch ein Zufluchtsort für Kräuter. Forscher haben fast 150 Arten einzigartiger Kräuter gefunden, die seltsamerweise sonst nirgendwo wachsen.

Lipton's SeatLipton’s Seat is a high observation point in the hills of Poonagala. Located on the top of the town’s namesake, Poonagala Hill, it is also near the Dambatenne Tea Factory. Lipton’s Seat is so named because the famed Scottish baron and tea planter Sir Thomas Lipton used it as the seat to survey his empire in a time long gone but not forgotten.
