المحافظة الجنوبية
تقع محافظة الجنوب في سريلانكا وهي منطقة جغرافية صغيرة تتكون من ثلاث مقاطعات: جالي، ماتارا و هامبانتوتا. الزراعة والصيد هما المصدران الرئيسيان للدخل لغالبية سكان هذه المنطقة. من المعالم الهامة في محافظة الجنوب المحميات الطبيعية؛ محميات يالا ولونوجامفهيرا وبوندالا الوطنية. تقع أوسانغودا في أمبالانتوتا ولها صلات تاريخية ما قبل التاريخ، وتوفر منظرًا بانوراميًا للشاطئ والبحر، بالإضافة إلى المدن القديمة مثل تيساماهاراما وكيريندا وجالي. خلال الفترة البرتغالية، كان هناك شاعران سنهاليان مشهوران هما أنداري من ديكويلا وجاجامان نونا من دينيبيتايا في مقاطعة ماتارا، حيث كانوا يؤلفون قصائد عن الرجل العادي.
مقاطعة جالي يحدها نهر بينتارا من الشمال، والمحيط الهندي من الجنوب والغرب، ومقاطعات ماتارا وراتنابورا من الشرق. تضاريس مقاطعة جالي متنوعة للغاية. الحالة المناخية في منطقة هينيدوما باتوا تشبه إلى حد كبير المنطقة الجبلية الوسطى في سريلانكا. تضم هذه المنطقة غابات مطيرة تعمل كمستودعات لمعظم الأنهار والبحيرات في مقاطعة جالي، ومن أبرزها محمية غابات سينهاراجا. تقع مقاطعة جالي في منطقة مناخية معتدلة ويتراوح معدل الأمطار السنوي بين 2000 و 2500 ملم. يبدأ نهر "جين جانغا" من تل غونغالا في هينيدوما باتوا، ويقطع مسافة 113 كم (70 ميل) مرورًا بمناطق نيلووا، ثاولاما، ناغودا بادديغاما وتيليكا، ويغذي مساحة أرض تبلغ 922 كم²، قبل أن يصب في المحيط الهندي عند جينتوتا. يبدأ نهر مادو جانغا من بولاثوكاندا ويلتحم بالبحر عند بالابيتيا. يساعد هذا النهر في الحفاظ على التوازن البيئي في مقاطعة جالي.
تم إعلان حصن جالي و محمية غابات سينهاراجا كمواقع تراث عالمي من قبل اليونسكو. تقع محميات غابات كانلييا وهييار في مقاطعة جالي.
تتمتع مقاطعة ماتارا بشريط ساحلي خلاب ومليء بالجمال الطبيعي. تمتلك تاريخًا عريقًا وهي منطقة خصبة تقع بين مقاطعتي جالي وهامبانتوتا. تضم غابات سينهاراجا المطيرة والعديد من الشلالات الجذابة. مناخ مقاطعة ماتارا ينتمي إلى المنطقة الرطبة في الأراضي المنخفضة، ويستمر نمط المناخ هذا مشابهًا للظروف العامة في الجزيرة.
تقع مقاطعة هامبانتوتا على الساحل الجنوبي الشرقي لسريلانكا. عاصمة المقاطعة هي هامبانتوتا، وهي مركز لإنتاج الملح. من المدن البارزة الأخرى: تانغال، أمبالانتوتا، تيساماهاراما وبيلياتا.

Central ProvinceThe Central Province is located in the central hills of Sri Lanka comprising of three administrative districts: Kandy, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya. The land area of the province is 5,575 km2 which is 8.6% of the total land area of Sri Lanka.

Southern ProvinceThe Southern Province of Sri Lanka is a small geographic area consisting of three districts: Galle, Matara and Hambantota. Farming and fishing are the main sources of income for the vast majority of the people in this region.

Uva ProvinceThe Uva Province consists of two districts: Badulla and Moneragala while the capital of the province is Badulla. Uva is bordered by the Eastern, Southern and Central provinces.

Sabaragamuwa ProvinceSabaragamuwa is yet another province of Sri Lanka, located in the south-central region of the island and is comprised of two administrative districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle.

North Western ProvinceNorth Western Province is comprised of two administrative districts viz. Kurunegala and Puttalam. The provincial capital is Kurunegala that has a population of 28,571. The province is well known for its coconut plantations.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.

Eastern ProvinceAnother province of Sri Lanka mostly known for its golden beaches and the natural harbour, the Eastern Province which is 9,996 km2 in extent consists of three administrative districts namely Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.
