Prowincja Uva

Prowincja Uva składa się z dwóch dystryktów: Badulla oraz Moneragala, a stolicą prowincji jest Badulla. Uva graniczy z prowincjami Wschodnią, Południową oraz Centralną. Symboliczną górą prowincji Uva jest Namunukula, która jest najwyższym szczytem pasma górskiego otaczającego miasto Badulla. W pogodny dzień ze szczytu Namunukula można podziwiać spektakularne widoki na kotlinę Welimada, Kataragamę oraz plażę Hambantota. Równie imponujące są tam wschody i zachody słońca.

W prowincji Uva znajduje się wiele słynnych wodospadów Sri Lanki, takich jak Dunhinda Falls, Diyaluma Falls, Rawana Falls oraz Bambarakanda Falls, a także parki narodowe, takie jak Yala (położony częściowo w prowincjach Południowej i Wschodniej) oraz Gal Oya (położony częściowo w prowincji Wschodniej). Wzgórza Gal Oya oraz centralne góry stanowią główne wyżyny, natomiast rzeki Mahaweli i Menik, a także zbiorniki Senanayake i Maduru Oya, są głównymi drogami wodnymi. Główne zabytki dziedzictwa kulturowego w mieście Badulla i jego okolicach to starożytna świątynia Muthiyangana, świątynia Dowa, starożytny drewniany most Bogoda oraz buddyjska świątynia Bogoda. Świątynia Muthiyangana znajduje się na jednym krańcu miasta Badulla, natomiast drewniany most Bogoda i świątynia leżą w pobliżu miasta Hali-ela. Starożytna buddyjska świątynia Rawana jest również popularna wśród turystów odwiedzających Jaskinię Rawany oraz Wodospad Rawany w Ella.

Haputale jest miasteczkiem w dystrykcie Badulla, a jego najwyższym pasmem górskim jest Kirigalpotta. Przełęcz Haputale–Beragala oferuje w pogodny dzień wspaniałe widoki na prowincje Południową oraz Sabaragamuwa. Wysokość wynosi 1431 m (4695 stóp) nad poziomem morza. Obszar ten charakteryzuje się bogatą bioróżnorodnością oraz dużą różnorodnością flory i fauny. Ze względu na swoje położenie miasto ma chłodniejszy klimat niż otaczające je tereny. Przełęcz Haputale umożliwia widoki na południowe równiny Sri Lanki. Południowo-zachodnią granicę kotliny Uva wyznaczają grzbiety górskie Haputale, które ciągną się dalej na zachód do Horton Plains oraz Adam’s Peak. CNN uznało Haputale za jedno z najbardziej nieodkrytych miejsc w Azji. Do atrakcji Haputale należą m.in. Lipton’s Seat oraz .

  • The most densely populated province of Sri Lanka, the Western Province which is 3,593 km2 in extent is home to the country’s legislative capital Sri Jayewardenepura. It is also home to the country’s commercial hub, Colombo.

    Western Province 
  • The Central Province is located in the central hills of Sri Lanka comprising of three administrative districts: Kandy, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya. The land area of the province is 5,575 km2 which is 8.6% of the total land area of Sri Lanka.

    Central Province 
  • The Southern Province of Sri Lanka is a small geographic area consisting of three districts: Galle, Matara and Hambantota. Farming and fishing are the main sources of income for the vast majority of the people in this region.

  • The Uva Province consists of two districts: Badulla and Moneragala while the capital of the province is Badulla. Uva is bordered by the Eastern, Southern and Central provinces.

  • The Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.
