쿠루네갈라 지구
쿠루네갈라는 스리랑카의 북서부 서부 주에 위치한 한 행정 구역입니다. 총 면적은 4,812.7km²(481,270헥타르)이며, 30개의 디비전 사무국, 1,610개의 그라마 닐라다리 구역, 그리고 총 4,476개의 마을로 구성되어 있습니다. 또한 14개의 선거구, 2개의 지방 자치 시의회, 19개의 도시 의회, 15명의 국회의원급 장관, 47명의 주 의회 의원, 15명의 장관, 그리고 337명의 지방 의회 의원이 포함되어 있습니다.
지리적으로 쿠루네갈라 구는 다섯 개의 구와 접하고 있습니다. 북쪽으로는 아누라다푸라 구, 동쪽으로는 마탈레 구, 남쪽으로는 감파하 구와 케갈레 구, 그리고 서쪽으로는 푸탈람 구와 접해 있습니다. 이 지역의 지리적 위치는 북위 2°28′ – 3°33′, 동경 104′ – 178′ 사이에 해당합니다.
쿠루네갈라는 다른 지역에 비해 매우 특별한 역사적 배경을 지니고 있으며, 판두와스누와라, 쿠루네갈라, 야파후와, 그리고 담바데니야라는 네 개의 고대 왕국이 존재했던 곳입니다.
스리랑카 전체 인구 대비 비율로 볼 때, 쿠루네갈라 구는 약 7.3%의 인구를 차지하고 있습니다. 인구 조사 자료에 따르면 2001년 기준 쿠루네갈라의 추정 인구는 약 140만 명이었습니다. 쿠루네갈라 구 주민의 대다수는 싱할라족에 속합니다. 그 외의 소수 민족으로는 스리랑카 무슬림, 스리랑카 타밀족, 버거인, 말레이인이 있으며, 이러한 소수 민족들은 구 전역에 걸쳐 거주하고 있습니다.
