Kwatha
"Kwatha" is a term from Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine in India. It refers to a herbal decoction or medicated drink made by boiling herbs in water to extract their active ingredients.
Here's how Kwatha is typically prepared:
Raw herbs (roots, bark, seeds, leaves, etc.) are taken—usually dried.
These herbs are crushed or coarsely powdered.
The herbs are boiled in water, usually in a 1:16 ratio (1 part herb to 16 parts water).
The liquid is reduced to 1/4th of its original volume.
The decoction is then filtered and used as medicine.
Uses:
Kwathas are prescribed for a variety of conditions depending on the herbs used.
They can help with digestion, detoxification, boosting immunity, treating infections, and more.
Some common kwathas include Dashamoola Kwatha, Punarnava Kwatha, and Guduchi Kwatha.
