Demodara
Demodara es una pequeña pero pintoresca ciudad ubicada en el distrito de Badulla en la provincia de Uva en Sri Lanka. Conocida por sus impresionantes paisajes e historia rica, Demodara es una joya escondida que ofrece un escape tranquilo a la naturaleza y la cultura tradicional de Sri Lanka.
Una de las atracciones más icónicas de Demodara es el Puente de los Nueve Arcos. Este colosal puente ferroviario, construido durante el período colonial británico, es una maravilla de la ingeniería. Fue construido completamente con ladrillos, piedras y cemento sin el uso de acero, y el puente se extiende por aproximadamente 300 pies de largo y tiene unos 80 pies de altura. Ofrece una vista espectacular en medio de la exuberante vegetación y las plantaciones de té que cubren las colinas. El puente no solo es un lugar popular para fotógrafos y turistas, sino que también sirve como una vía férrea activa, lo que hace que ver los trenes pasar por encima sea una experiencia emocionante.
Junto al Puente de los Nueve Arcos se encuentra la Demodara Loop, otra maravilla ingenieril donde la línea de tren se enrolla sobre sí misma a través de un túnel bajo la estación de Demodara. Este lazo es único porque la estación se encuentra directamente sobre el túnel, un diseño necesario debido a las empinadas pendientes de la zona y la necesidad de mantener una pendiente manejable para los trenes.
La ciudad está rodeada de suaves colinas y plantaciones de té, lo que ofrece oportunidades para hacer senderismo y explorar. Los visitantes pueden disfrutar de paseos por las plantaciones de té, aprender sobre la producción de té y probar el té de Ceilán fresco directamente de la fuente. El clima fresco y el entorno tranquilo hacen de Demodara un lugar ideal para relajarse y rejuvenecer.

Bogoda Wooden BridgeThe Bogoda Wooden Bridge was built in the 16th century during the Dambadeniya era. This is said to be the oldest surviving wooden bridge in Sri Lanka. The bridge is situated at 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) west of Badulla.

Dunhinda FallsDunhinda Falls is situated about 5 km away from Badulla town. It is 63 meters high and is considered to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka. The falls gets its name dew to the smoky dew drops spray.
Badulla District
Badulla is the capital of Uva Province in Sri Lanka. Badulla is located on the southeast of Kandy, almost encircled by the Badulu Oya , about 680 meters (2200 ft) above sea level and is surrounded by tea plantations. The town is overshadowed by the Namunukula range of mountains. Badulla is about 230km away from Colombo towards the eastern slopes of central hills of Sri Lanka.
Badulla and surroundings are highly recommended for eco-tourists as Horton Plains National Park and the Knuckles mountains are few hours away.
Uva Province
The Uva Province is Sri Lanka's second least populated province, with 1,187,335 people, created in 1896. It consists of two districts called Badulla and Moneragala The provincial capital is Badulla. Uva is bordered by Eastern, Southern and Central provinces. Its major tourist attractions are Dunhinda Falls, Diyaluma Falls, Rawana Falls, the Yala National Park (lying partly in the Southern and Eastern Provinces) and Gal Oya National Park (lying partly in the Eastern Province). The Gal Oya hills and the Central Mountains are the main uplands, while the Mahaweli and Menik rivers and the huge Senanayake Samudraya and Maduru Oya Reservoirs are the major waterways in Uva province.
