Athirasa is a very sweet and delicious Avurudu treat that is mainly served during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Similar to a flat Konda Kavum and also known as “Athirasam” in tamil, Athirasa means extremely tasty. Made with an interesting combination of rice flour, roasted rice, coconut treacle, coconut oil and cardamom, our Lakpura Athirasa sweetmeats are always made fresh upon confirmation of orders. Following a recipe passed down through many generations, Athirasa is prepared by forming a paste like consistency - by mixing all the ingredients. Then they ae flattened into circles, and deep fried till golden brown. Other than festive occasions, Athirasa is also served during weddings, auspicious occasions, alms giving’s etc while they are usually served together with Kokis, Konda Kevum, Assmi and Aluwa.
