මධ්යම පළාත
මධ්යම පළාත ශ්රී ලංකාවේ මධ්යම කඳුකරයේ පිහිටා ඇති අතර මහනුවර, මාතලේ සහ නුවරඑළිය යන පරිපාලන දිස්ත්රික්ක තුනකින් සමන්විත වේ. මෙම පළාතේ භූමි ප්රමාණය වර්ග කිලෝමීටර් 5,575ක් වන අතර එය ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සමස්ත භූමි ප්රමාණයෙන් 8.6%කි. පළාත උතුරු අක්ෂාංශ 6.6°–7.7° සහ නැගෙනහිර දේශාංශ 80.5°–80.9° අතර පිහිටා ඇත. පළාත තුළ උස මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට අඩි 600 සිට අඩි 6,000ට වඩා වැඩි දක්වා වෙනස් වේ. උතුරින් උතුරු මධ්යම පළාත, නැගෙනහිරින් මහවැලි ගඟ, දකුණින් උමා ඔය සහ ශ්රී පාදය, කිරිගල්පොත්ත සහ තොටපල යන කඳු පරාස, බටහිරින් ඩොලොස්බාගේ සහ ගලගෙදර කඳු පරාසවලින් පළාත සීමා වේ.
මහනුවර ශ්රී ලංකාවේ දෙවන විශාලතම නගරය වන අතර මධ්යම පළාතේ සහ මහනුවර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ ප්රධාන නගරය ද වේ. මෙම පුරාණ නගරය මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට මීටර් 465ක් (අඩි 1,526ක්) උසින් පිහිටා ඇත. මහනුවර ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරාණ රාජධානියේ අවසන් අගනුවර වන අතර ශ්රී දළදා මාළිගාව හේතුවෙන් රටේ ඉතාමත් පූජනීය නගරවලින් එකක් ලෙස සැලකේ. එය දිවයිනේ අතිශය සුන්දර නගරවලින් එකක්ද වේ. සශ්රීක කඳුවලින් වටවී ඇති නගරයට, වැව සහ එයට අසන්න ශ්රී දළදා මාළිගාව නගරයේ සුන්දරත්වය වැඩි කරයි.
19 වැනි ශතවර්ෂයේ ආරම්භයට අයත් සුදු ගල් පාරපට්ටියකින් වටවී ඇති වැවෙහි උතුරු තීරයේ, නගරයේ ප්රධාන ආගමික ස්මාරක පිහිටා 있으며, එයට දළදා මාළිගාව ලෙස හඳුන්වන දළදා දේවාලය සහ රාජ මාලිගාව ඇතුළත් වේ. 18 වැනි ශතවර්ෂයේ නැවත ගොඩනගා ඇති දළදා මාළිගාව, අනුරාධපුර යන ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරාණ අගනුවරේ දේවාලවලින් ආභාසය ලබා, ග්රැනයිට් පදනමක් මත ඉදිකර ඇත. විවිධ ද්රව්ය භාවිතය මෙම දේවාලයේ සම්පන්නත්වයට දායක වේ. මෙම කුඩා පූජනීය නගරය පුරා බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථාන කිහිපයක් දැක ගත හැක. මහනුවර දිවයිනේ කඳුකර හා ඝන වනාන්තරවලින් සමන්විත අභ්යන්තර ප්රදේශයේ පිහිටා 있으며, නකල්ස් සහ හන්තාන ඇතුළු කඳු පරාස කිහිපයකින් වටවී ඇත. එමඟින් නගරය මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට මීටර් 500ක් උසින් පිහිටා ඇත. එය කෘත්රිම මහනුවර වැවට අසන්නව සහ උඩවත්තකැලේ අරණ්යයට දකුණින් පිහිටා ඇත.
නුවරඑළිය (“ආලෝකයේ නගරය” යන අර්ථය ඇති), ශ්රී ලංකාවේ මධ්යම උස්බිම් ප්රදේශයේ පිහිටි, සිත්ගන්නාසුලු දර්ශන සහ මධ්යම උෂ්ණත්ව කාලගුණයක් ඇති නගරයකි. නුවරඑළිය, නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්රික්කයේ ප්රධාන නගරය වන අතර, මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට මීටර් 1,868ක් (අඩි 6,128ක්) උසින් පිහිටා ඇත සහ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ තේ නිෂ්පාදනය සඳහා ඉතාමත් වැදගත් ස්ථානය ලෙස සැලකේ. මෙම නගරය පිදුරුතලගල නම් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ උසම කන්ද දර්ශනය වන ලෙස පිහිටා ඇත. උස අධික වීම හේතුවෙන් නුවරඑළියට පහත් ප්රදේශවලට වඩා ඉතා සිසිල් කාලගුණයක් ඇති අතර සාමාන්ය වාර්ෂික උෂ්ණත්වය 16°Cක් වේ. කෙසේවෙතත්, සමහර අවස්ථාවල උෂ්ණත්වය 3°C දක්වා පහළ යා හැක. දෙසැම්බර්, ජනවාරි සහ පෙබරවාරි මාසවල රාත්රී කාලය ඉතා සිසිල් වන අතර, හිම වැටීම් පවා ඇති විය හැක, නමුත් උෂ්ණකලාවේ සූර්යයා උදාවත් සමඟ ඉක්මනින් උෂ්ණත්වය ඉහළ යයි.

Uva ProvinceThe Uva Province consists of two districts: Badulla and Moneragala while the capital of the province is Badulla. Uva is bordered by the Eastern, Southern and Central provinces.

Sabaragamuwa ProvinceSabaragamuwa is yet another province of Sri Lanka, located in the south-central region of the island and is comprised of two administrative districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle.

North Western ProvinceNorth Western Province is comprised of two administrative districts viz. Kurunegala and Puttalam. The provincial capital is Kurunegala that has a population of 28,571. The province is well known for its coconut plantations.

Northern ProvinceThe Northern Province is located in the north of Sri Lanka just 35 km from India. It has a land area of 8,884 km’. The province is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay to the west, Palk Strait to the north west, the Bay of Bengal to the north and east and the Eastern, North Central and North Western provinces to the south.
