The Spice House is a truly beautiful Colonial style guesthouse set in a peaceful, landscaped garden full of tropical flowers, fruit, spices, ponds and hammocks. The house is shaded by swaying palms and cinnamon trees to the front while the back garden is terraced which allows wonderful views out over the surrounding jungle. Native wildlife is often seen in the garden with daily visits from monkeys, kingfishers, peacocks, woodpeckers, squirrels and the occasional. The garden also boasts a large vegetable plot and spice garden, relaxing hammocks and two ponds.
There are also mature mango, banana, papaya, cashew and scented frangipani trees.
The hotel is ideally situated, apart from Mirissa having the best beach on the Island in fact you have a choice of 3 bays here from calm, reef protected swimming to surfing big waves, it is also the best place for whale and dolphin watching trips, Dondra lighthouse is also only 15km away which offers fantastic views of the Indian Ocean. The historic fortress town of Galle is 45 minutes away and the hotel is also perfect for getting to Uda Walawe and Yala Nationla Parks.
