メディリギリヤ・ヴァタダーゲ (වටදාගෙ)

歴史

構造

スリランカのメディリギリヤ・ワタダゲヤは、岩が露出した場所に建てられました。入口は北側に一つだけありました。出入り口は、階段の一番下に建てられた巨大な彫刻が施された石の枠でした。フレームの高さは 9.75 フィート、幅は 4.75 フィートでした。出入り口から 27 段の石段を登ると、広い休憩所がありました。休憩所から実際の仏塔までは 4 つの階段を上ります。仏塔の家には、高さ約 1 メートルの低い石の壁が周囲を取り囲んでいました。四方を向いた壁に、精緻な石仏が 4 体安置されていました。ストゥーパハウスには長さ33フィートの巨大な寝仏がありました。中央には仏塔が君臨していた。

仏塔は 3 つの同心円状の石柱で囲まれていました。外側のリングには 9 フィートの高さで 32 本の柱があり、中間のリングには 16 フィートの高さで 20 本の柱があり、最後に内側のリングには 17 フィートの高さで 16 本の柱がありました。考古学者の中には屋根など存在しなかったと主張する者もいるが、遺跡に今も残っている柱が屋根を支えていたことを証明しているという者もいる。柱のリングの高さは、仏塔の尖塔を収容するために中央では非常に高い屋根に向かっていますが、外側の端では比較的低い点に向かってドーム状に下向きに傾斜しています。

荒廃していながらも優雅なメディリギリヤ ヴァタダージは、セイロンの職人たちが時代を超えて実践してきた高度な石工芸の代表的な例です。

その他の機能

メディリギリヤ修道院がかつて持っていたその他の特徴は、2 つの沐浴用の池、古代の修道士が使用した形跡のある洞窟、トイレ、当時としてはかなり先進的だった病院、そして体にぴったり合う形をした硬い岩で作られた薬船でした。あらゆるタイプの身体構造。 3 つの石碑もまだ見られません。そのうちの 2 つは病院の経営と食事の提供に関するものです。 3 番目の文字には古代タミル語の文字が刻まれています。

放棄と現状

Located in the sacred area of Mahamewna park, the Thuparamaya Stupa is the earliest Dagoba to be constructed in the island, dating back to the reign of King Devanampiya Tissa (247-207 BC). The temple has been formally recognised by the Government as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka.

Anuradhapura District

Anuradhapura is belongs to the North Central Province in to Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Lankan civilization. The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies 205 km north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka.

In the sacred city of Anuradhapura and in the vicinity are a large number of ruins. The ruins consist of three classes of buildings, dagobas, monastic buildings, and pokuna (ponds). The city had some of the most complex irrigation systems of the ancient world, situated in the dry zone of the country the administration built many tanks to irrigate the land. Most of the civilians are Sinhala, while Tamils and Sri Lankan Moors live in the district.
