Monte Rumassala
Rumassala è una bellissima montagna situata a 3 km a est della città di Galle, nella Provincia del Sud di Sri Lanka, direttamente collegata alla Yatra di Ramayana in Sri Lanka. Secondo il tour del sentiero di Ramayana in Sri Lanka, si ritiene che questa caratteristica geografica insolita sia caduta quando Hanuman trasportò la montagna Dronagiri nel suo volo di ritorno verso Lanka per usare le erbe Sanjeevani salvavita. Queste erbe erano necessarie per salvare Lakshmana e Rama, che erano gravemente feriti nella loro guerra. Pertanto, Rumassala è una delle cinque montagne Sanjivani in Sri Lanka ed è un sito importante per il tour di Ramayana in Sri Lanka.
Leggenda
Secondo il famoso epico sanscrito Ramayana, quando la consorte del principe Rama, Sita, fu rapita dal re demone Ravana, Rama, insieme a suo fratello minore e al semidio scimmia Hanuman, la seguirono fino a Sri Lanka. Durante la violenta battaglia per salvarla, il fratello di Rama, Lakshmana, fu gravemente ferito, e Hanuman fu inviato a cercare le erbe medicinali necessarie per curarlo. Si dice che il semidio, nella sua confusione nel trovare il giusto rimedio, abbia rotto un pezzo della montagna sacra. La montagna si è rotta in cinque pezzi separati e uno di questi si crede sia caduto dove si trova oggi la montagna di Rumassala. Mentre trasportava la montagna, si dice che delle parti siano cadute in cinque luoghi in Sri Lanka: Rumassala a Galle, Dolu Kanda a Hiripitiya, Ritigala sulla strada Habarana-Anuradhapura, Thalladi a Mannar e Kachchativu nel nord.
Oggi, la maestosa montagna si erge come una testimonianza degli affascinanti eventi menzionati nell'epico. Con strane storie di viaggiatori che si sono persi nella montagna, Rumassala è anche un rifugio per le erbe. I ricercatori hanno trovato quasi 150 specie di erbe uniche che, stranamente, non crescono altrove.

Lipton's SeatLipton’s Seat is a high observation point in the hills of Poonagala. Located on the top of the town’s namesake, Poonagala Hill, it is also near the Dambatenne Tea Factory.
